Terms and conditions

A trial lesson is offered but it is not free. The trial lesson is a single, one-off music class and must be paid before the day of the lesson. If students decide to continue after the trial lesson, the students will be required to pay monthly (preferably) or fortnightly if you prefer. But the more you commit, the less you pay.

Students are required to provide full payment of monthly fees before a permanent class position will be allocated and the payment is required at the first lesson of the month (the first of the 4 lessons). You can select the option for payment by clicking the down arrow on the Pay Lesson page.

In order to maintain the highest quality of music lessons for all students, Sunshine Coast Guitar Studio will make every effort to re-schedule a lesson(s) when required. However, we require 24 hours’ notice for re-scheduling.

If the need to re-schedule is due to a serious medical conditions, a credit toward lessons in the future will be granted with no cancellation fee. All such credits must be used in full during the following month (or as agreed on a case-by-case basis) and cannot be redeemed for cash. A refund of fees is not available.

If the student needs to re-schedule due to an unexpected illness (such as COVID, Influenza, etc), notice may be less than 24 hours but as soon as possible i.e. not one hour before the lesson or a $70 cancellation fee will be applied.

If the lesson is cancelled due to a teacher absence, the student will be notified by text, e-mail or phone. In this case, a makeup lesson will be arranged or credited toward the next week/month as agreed including adding extra time onto subsequent lessons until the time missed is made up.

If a Make-Up lesson is arranged and is missed/forgotten by the student/parent, another time cannot be arranged.

If you cancel your lesson because “something came up” or because you haven’t practiced, a $70 cancellation fee will be applied. If we already commit our time for you, you can’t just cancel as you wish, otherwise we lose our time slot that we could’ve used to teach others.
The teacher will help you to improve your skills by giving you guidance, practice material and teach you strategies to achieve it. But it’s your responsibility to practice in your own time, otherwise it will be waste of time and money.

It is important that Sunshine Coast Guitar Studio has up-to-date phone numbers and address details so that you can be easily contacted. Please make sure your details are up to date. All such information will be kept confidential.

Lesson times are set as permanent appointments, so please try to avoid booking other activities at this time. Also, if you arrive late for your lesson, the time you have missed cannot be made up, as there are students scheduled after your time slot, and before, who expect their lesson to be running on time.

When a lesson is started late due to a student’s late arrival, the lesson will be completed on time and no make-up time will be offered, unless the teacher is free after your time slot.

If a lesson is started late due to a teacher’s late arrival, the lesson will be completed on time and a make-up lesson for the time that was missed will be offered.

Lessons are given on public holidays. If a public holiday falls on a Friday or Monday, your lesson will be held on that day unless you advise us that you are having a break. Please provide notice at your lesson the week prior (i.e. 1 week’s notice).

If you will be going on a long break (e.g. holidays or business trips), the timetable slot for your lesson will not be retained for you. The allocated slot for your lesson can be reserved for you if 50% of the fees (for the time period of the leave) are paid.

At least 2 weeks’ notice is required if discontinuing. If notice is given, before the monthly fees are due you will not be charged. If payment of monthly fees has already occurred and you wish to discontinue you may request a full cancellation and forfeit your permanent position, however, a $70 cancellation fee will be applied to the refund.

For children and teens learning music, parents are always encouraged to stay for the lesson so they can support learning at home. If your child has additional needs or a health condition, including ADHD, Autism, Asperger’s, Schizophrenia, Epilepsy, etc, it is necessary that you remain present to provide support if needed during the lesson and to support learning at home.

No responsibility can be taken for students outside of lesson time. Please ensure that your child is safe by supervising them outside of lessons and delivering and picking them up on time.

Please try to reduce the spread of contagious illnesses by keeping yourselves or your sick children at home. Also, please ensure that you inform Sunshine Coast Guitar Studio of any serious health issues (allergies, asthma etc) that may need attention during music lessons.

If you have any type of allergy, please make sure that you bring anything you need to keep you safe.
